Chapter One: Lakewood Movie house
Alice’s POV
March 15th 1946
I had a summer job at the Lakewood movie house. I got all the money I’d been saving for a new shiny silver bike with a little basket on it.
I went to Ronnie’s bike shop, and bought my new bike. I wore my black and white polka dotted dress with short, puffy sleeves. I rode my bike home. Me and my friend, Rosalie were to go to the movie theater with her boyfriend Emmett.
I met Rosalie five years ago at tennis lessons. Emmett was my cousin.
So, at the movie house, this young man who looked about my age with wavy, untidy bronze hair and sparkling green eyes.
He was sitting on his feet, so I couldn’t see the movie. “Excuse me sir?” I said, tapping his shoulder. He turned around. “I can’t see the movie so; kind sir you wouldn’t mind moving would ya?” I asked, as sweetly as possible.
“Oh, yes ma’am,” he tipped his hat to me and scooted over. I smiled, blushing and watched the rest of the movie. Every now and then, he would turn around and look at me.
